Accreditation Information

This is a Stream 1 module and is designed for doctors that have never successfully completed the Stream 1 module and do not hold these accreditations.

Successful completion of the module will lead to awarding of two accreditations:

  1. Hematopoietic System
  2. Hematopoietic System: Infectious Occupational Diseases

Module Information

This module covers the evaluation criteria from Chapter 7 of the Guides (the Hematopoietic System) but also covers and additional set prescribed Guidelines for assessing Occupational Infectious Diseases.

The module includes:

  • The methodology in Chapter 7 relating to disorders of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, coagulation proteins and the immune defence system.
  • Detailed discussion of the approach to assessing impairment from splenectomy.
  • Detailed discussion of the approach to be taken to assess impairment associated with permanent need for use of blood thinners.
  • The methodology of the prescribed Guidelines for assessing Occupational Infectious Diseases and the fact that these Guidelines do not apply for all compensation jurisdictions.
